Shadow Tiles

Waiting to record some vocals one day in a soundproof booth, I noticed the forms produced by the equipment on the recording studio walls, and immediately began to trace over them into my notebook. I decided to record these 'recorders' visually and found myself thinking of the other times we sit and wait, especially at times of profound experiences, and while waiting begin to notice simple and pleasing little details, in the most normal or mundane of things, which would otherwise go unnoticed.

As an alternative document of a live event, these line drawings are produced on whatever paper or cardboard material is to hand, and later these are scanned and digitally mirrored to produce decorative tiling, with patterns reminiscent of North African designs.
